About Open Beekeeping
Open Beekeeping makes open source code and tools for beekeepers. Each tool is its own product with its own name.
| Tool | What it’s for | Status |
|---|---|---|
| OpenBKA | Running a beekeeping association: members, records and documents | Early development |
| OpenApiary | Keeping track of your own colonies and inspections | Planned |
| Your account | One sign-in for every Open Beekeeping app | Early development |
What “open” means here
Section titled “What “open” means here”- The code is public. Anyone can read it on GitHub.
- It’s free to use. You can run the tools yourself, for your association or your own apiary, without paying anyone.
- It’s open to change. You can suggest improvements, or change your own copy to suit how you work.
Where we offer a hosted version, such as openbka.org, it runs the same code you can host yourself.
Your data
Section titled “Your data”Each app keeps only the data it needs. Your account holds who you are (your name, email and the way you sign in); your association’s records stay with your association’s copy of OpenBKA.
